Time to Hammer the Hammy

Don't worry...it's not me-

I always liked this photo of Martin Gaffuri, lying at the finish line of Stage 4 in Leadville, CO during the 2007 TransRockies Run. He and his teammate Glen Redpath had just pulled off a great run and had snuck ahead of us (Dom Repta/PV) for 3rd...

Yesterday's 5 Peaks was going to be my first 'real' test of my fitness - I felt good, and ready to run hard. I'm not going to yap too much about the experience because it's frustrating...but about 3k into the 9km race, I was flying down the hill behind race leader (and eventual winner) Erik Carleton, and at the base of hill I felt a 'twang!' in my left hamstring- an instant shot of pain ripped through my leg and I knew it was game over...I walk back to the finish.

Coulda - Shoulda - Woulda...I'm pissed.

That's all I'm going to say about that.

On the bright side, it was the first time we actually had a nice day to enjoy - finally!

Early morning setup - Salomon, Suunto, MEC...getting ready to talk shop!

The crowd buzzing with excitement...The last bit of snow on COP looms in the background.

That's shitty. I'm guessing you are out for Nipika on Saturday. Hope it heals fast.

I'll still be there, but no sure if I'm going to run the race yet- Either way, I'm looking forward to cruising the Nipika Trails! See you out there!
