Green Means GO!

Wow...Now THAT, was a real mountain race!

Just a quick update for now as I'm still on the fly in Eastern Ontario...

Although my body and legs are slowly coming back to life after being violated by Ultimate XC's course, I'm still sporting a gigantic grin at the experience of having 'survived' my first crack back on the trail (A top-of-the-podium finish doesn't hurt either!).

If you ever thought you had run a course described as 'technical', think again...This beast was amazing, and it all started about 8km in as I jumped in a creek and started wading through belly-deep water, climbing over beaver dams, in/out of head high 'jungle' brush and up slick rocky river for about 4km! And that was just the beginning...

A few pics that I scammed off FB for now...More to come soon!

PV on the move at the start of the race in Tremblant Village

David Le Porho lead the way for the better part of the race at one point holding an 8min+ lead. I managed to catch up to him at the 50km mark and overtake him for the win!

Overall men's 58km!

Thanks gang! Always nice to get a boost of confidence...

Duncan: At one point, I said to the the guy next to me that "we should have brought our canoe" - this creek was crazy! After a few dams, the river opened up and we had to run upriver on super slippery river rock. The RD even went as far as saying we would get a time penalty if we ran on the shores of the river! Good thing we had a shoe/gear change station at 14k, otherwise, I would have been running with sand at the bottom of my Speedcross' for the next 40k!

Results are now up: http://www.ultimatexc.com/races-results.aspx?race=1
