TR Countdown: Time To Go-

Tomorrow, Dom and I will line up as Team X-C.com and compete in the inaugural Gore-Tex TransRockies Run! After a week of preparing for the event, there's no more training that will help us, only strong minds and healthy bodies...

Registration line-up

The Gore-Tex fabric tester - provides 'level 5 Hurricane' conditions inside a mobile shower unit!

Stage 1 Details: Beaver Creek to Vail: Although the distance between both communities is only 10min by car, we'll be taking a slight detour as we first climb out of Beaver Creek Resort to the top of the ski hill, then we'll head back down to Hwy 6 for a bit of road running (the course has been rerouted due to 'environmentally sensitive' areas). The course will turn back uphill 7km from Avon and follow a goat trail all the way to the 'Eagle Nest' on Vail Ski Resort.

Tomorrow's starting line at the base of Beaver Creek

Length: 24km (15miles)
Climbing: 1260m
Descending: 580m
Maximum Altitude: 3145m

Drew Bragg, TR announcer getting the runners pumped!

Whichever way we look at it, there are so many unknowns about this race that anything can happen. Our goal is to finish in the top 3 teams, but honestly, only time (and 5 stages) will tell.

Can't wait...

Hey Phil,

Great to see you blogging from the race. The start area looks a lot like the Canmore Nordic Centre :)
Say hi to Steve and Leslie from Banff if you see them there and good luck on the race, you two should do really well.
Keep the posts coming for those of us that had to stay home and work :(
